Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
