Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect learning which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
