Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
