The City of Angels witnessed citywide celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Fans worldwide united with local residents in jubilation, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.

Victory Parade Attracts Massive Crowds

Local events featured a downtown parade on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.

Online footage show countless of Angelenos flooding downtown streets, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.

“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an translator.

The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and Ice Cube driving a light blue classic car around the field.

Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.

However, Mark Walter was met with a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict him walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with jeers punctuating his address.

The championship served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year showed equal or greater enthusiasm.

“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
