Shock as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The reason behind the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Authorities said that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a premises near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property managing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have have information to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and investigators have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.
Outpouring of Grief
His sister, a close relative, stated the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the public to not sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's children.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Beyond his role as a presenter, Stock was engaged in various business ventures, including security provision, supplying VIP protection services and managing safety for prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in real estate operations and was involved in building evictions.

His death has shocked the country and prompted an flood of condolences from his followers, the government and political parties.
A cabinet official said he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's killing.
"He expressed his views fearlessly and impartially. He even criticized me and my policies as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we should be," was his tribute.
A political leader said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A media executive expressed that "Stock was far beyond a face of a reality series. He was a talented storyteller, a true devotee of sound and a kind-hearted individual who brought happiness and vitality to every moment on screen. His artistic passion left an lasting impression."
In a release, the broadcaster he worked for said Stock was known for his charisma, approachability and intelligent commentary, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
