Week six of the 2025 NFL season

It's week six in the NFL season , after last week's talk about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the number of infractions both committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this Sunday.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers instead they might position two linebackers in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

At the start of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled big while new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows how the Broncos are a team aiming to run first, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's so athletic.

His assets are his mobility, being able to pass while moving, and finding varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the defence to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the area vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing above average, which is a good place to hold their division. The key to do to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
